Paphos is a coastal city located in the south west of Cyprus. It lies on the Mediterranean coast and has been included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage. It enjoys a subtropical Mediterranean climate with very mild temperatures. Archaeologists are of the view that Paphos has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. It was a centre of the cult of Aphrodite and of pre-Hellenic fertility deities. The Rock of Aphrodite emerges from the sea a few miles outside the city. Lemba is a village is home to numerous artists and is worth a visit. Many of the artists have open studios and it is a great place to pick up an original work of art.
The port which serves as a marina and a fisherman’s shelter is the top tourist destination of Paphos. It is lined with restaurants and cafes.
